| Secret Harbor School, WA. As we begin our 53rd year, our longstanding year-round Residential Treatment Program on remote Cypress Island continues to be the cornerstone of our agency. This program serves up to 35 boys between the ages of 11 and 18 who are in need of a specialized therapeutic and educational environment. Located on remote Cypress Island, five miles from Anacortes and 75 miles north of Seattle, the campus is accessible only by private boat. Our kids receive the benefit of a fully-accredited education, an individually tailored therapeutic program, the optional benefit of several work experience training programs, and a four-phase chemical dependency program. In addition to the therapeutic milieu, individual and group therapy is provided under the direction of a child psychiatrist. Counseling and casework is provided by master's level therapists and trained group care counselors. The year-round academic program is an integral part of the overall treatment milieu. Educational objectives are incorporated into the full-time, 24-hour, 7-day-a-week program. The special education program is fully accredited and monitored by the Anacortes School District. Individualized tutoring is furnished when indicated. Lessons from the classroom, as practiced in everyday life situations and events that occur outside the classroom, are used to make classroom activities meaningful. | |
